EIND 499R is a three-credit project-based course where students work on a comprehensive open-ended team design project in the Spring semester of their final year of undergraduate studies.  Teams are expected to create an engineered solution to a client's business or operational problem. They are responsible for all phases of the project, including:

  • Understanding client needs
  • Project scoping and definition
  • Data collection
  • Idea generation
  • Engineering analysis
  • Documentation
  • Client communication
  • Project management

Oral and written communication skills are emphasized.

Most of the time in this course will be dedicated to project work. However, class meets once or twice per week to take care of logistics, review project assignments, and conduct just-in-time training on pertinent topics. Teams will also meet with a faculty advisor on a weekly basis for status updates and project review.
