University Sanctioned Community Service
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) staff is committed to supporting restorative
community service among students facing disciplinary measures. We support these students
giving back to the community in the following ways.
The OSE staff will:
- Meet with students individually and assist them to design a service plan based on the number of hours of service assigned, the deadline set to complete assigned hours, and available service opportunities and the interests of the student. In consultation with the OSE, the student will determine the community organizations with which they want to become involved.
- Will facilitate the initial contact between the student and the community organization(s) by providing contact information to the student. The student will be held responsible to follow through on their service plan and communicate with the OSE and community organizations if, for any reason, they are not able to fulfill a commitment.
The student is responsible to document service hours, get verifying signatures from site supervisors for all hours served on their timesheet, and is responsible to schedule a follow up appointment and bring the completed timesheet(s) to OSE no later than the deadline set by their Conduct Officer/RD/RA to complete the service hours.
