Broadwater County Fairgrounds- Livestock Building
The County Fair is the highlight of the year for many 4-H and FFA members and the conclusion of yearlong efforts in their projects. This is the final step in their project where marketing aspects come to life.
Through their projects, youth gain valuable life skills such as critical thinking, financial management, responsibility, confidence and goal setting. These life skills prepare youth to be competent, contributing adult members of society.
All participants complete Livestock Quality Assurance (QA) Training. QA teaches youth proper care and management, handling techniques, carcass and product quality and animal health. Youth put these principles into practice with their market animals to make sure that you, the buyer, are provided with the highest quality product possible.
When you support the Livestock Auction, you are supporting youth in Broadwater County. Many youth use their profits to fund college education. Without the support of local businesses and individuals, the sale would not be a success.
There are two ways to support youth by purchasing an animal at the livestock sale.
1. Custom Cut for Personal Use
2. Resale
Custom Cut
This is the most common way to support the sale. You are responsible for the processing instructions and charges. We will deliver the animal to the processor immediately after Fair, and then the animal is your responsibility.
Arrangements have been made with area processors to handle your purchase. Slaughter and processing fees will apply. Carcass data is collected so that youth know how to improve next year.
Friends and neighbors may share the purchase if a whole animal is more than you can use. If you want part of an animal and have not found another person to share it with, contact a Livestock Committee member and they will try to match your order with another purchaser.

· Consult a tax advisor about the tax deduction options of purchasing a 4-H market animal.
