Family and Consumer Sciences
The focus of the FCS program is to improve individual and family behaviors, and community well-being. Agents offer programs aimed at providing education and resources relating to food and nutrition, health and wellness, and a wide range of family issues such as changing family structures, inter-generational relations; human response to stress and crisis; family laws, finance and economics; and decision-making.

Description: QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is an evidence-based suicide prevention training. Participants will learn how to develop the skills and confidence to identify the warning signs of suicide and provide help to someone in crisis. This program is part of a research study being conducted by Montana State University. Participation in this research is voluntary and anonymous.

Description: StrongPeople is an evidence-based strength training program designed for older adults who want to stay strong, fit, and healthy. Each class progresses through a series of 8-10 exercises focused on resistance training, balance, and flexibility.

Registration: Prospective participants are encouraged to attend an informational session on this program on Tuesday, December 6, at 10am at Laurel Senior Center to learn about the program and how to enroll.
Please contact Yellowstone County Extension at 406-256-2828 for further instructions and to request a registration packet if you are unable to attend this session. Participants may be asked to seek approval from medical provider before beginning physical activity.

Description: ServSafe is administered by the National Restaurant Association and is designed for local food service managers/employees. Stay current on the latest food safety information – topics covered in this training include personal hygiene, cross-contamination, time and temperature, and cleaning and sanitizing. Participants will be taking the ServSafe exam as part of course completion.
