MSU students give advice to younger students

Welcome new and returning GEAR UP students!GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a grant-funded program from the U.S. Department of Education. The GEAR UP MSU program is dedicated to providing support and services to first-year students from Montana’s GEAR UP schools. Last fall, GEAR UP began its first year of services here on MSU's campus. GEAR UP MSU offers several services to students who are beginning their first year of post-secondary education at MSU. We have support and services available to both new, incoming freshmen as well as returning students from GEAR UP schools! This is the first of many monthly newsletters that will be sent out as a resource to you. Here you will be able to gather information on our upcoming events as well as get extra information for other campus events that are coming up.

On August 23rd, GEAR UP MSU had its first event of the 2021 Fall Semester. The next upcoming event for GEAR UP MSU will be a workshop onSeptember 16th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in SUB Ballroom C. Lunch will be provided, along with a variety of different tools to ensure that you are adjusting well to college life in addition to preparation for upcoming deadlines and events at MSU. Watch for more details during September. If you are a student from one of the following Montana schools you are a GEAR UP student and are invited to come!

Emily Pease: Lodge Grass, MT

Emily Pease is a GEAR UP Student from Lodge Grass, MT

Emily Pease is an incoming Hilleman Scholar freshman from Lodge Grass MT, pursuing a degree in Agricultural Education. Emily is a very skilled individual with many hobbies and interests. In high school, she participated in FFA, 4-H, Indian Club, GEAR UP and many other things. Her dogs are her largest enjoyment in life. She is pursuing Agriculture Education because she enjoys being around agriculture and because it is similar to how she grew up. She wants to learn more about agriculture and help teach others about it also. Emily chose MSU and Bozeman because it feels most like home. She is excited to meet new people and learn this semester.Emily says " A little advice, sleep is especially important, stick to a schedule, college is hard, but you got this!"

The Bounty of the Bridgers Campus Food Pantry is a student-driven initiative to combat food waste and food insecurity on the MSU campus for students, faculty, and staff. The pantry is available to offer supplemental and emergency food assistance to any student, faculty, or staff in need! The GEAR UP office is avaliable from to drop off food donations!

Join us at Bobcat Stadium as every freshman forms the annual "M" photo. Hear from President, Waded Cruzado and receive an exclusive t-shirt. Then head down to the Kagy Fields for Carnival games, food trucks, dj, and fireworks!

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, an outreach program of the Montana State University’s College of Arts & Architecture, will be preforming a production of A Midsummers Night’s Dream and Cymbeline at the Family/Grad Housing on the MSU Campus.
