Program Overview

The course, "Programming in Go", will be taught on the campus of the Free University of Berlin and will be open to both Montana State University students and Free University of Berlin students.  Students will learn the Go programming language and will use Go to solve practical problems.  Students will research and present an advanced feature of the Go language and work cross-culturally to implement and present a group project.
To help Montana State University students build their intercultural teamwork skills, many of the assignments will require each MSU student to work with an FU Berlin student.  It is also anticipated that MSU students will gain cultural insights into Germany by being in a class with FU Berlin peers.  The FU Berlin faculty liaison is Dr. Margarita, Esponda-Argüero.
Berlin was selected because (1) it is an exciting city for students, (2) it is a high-tech center in Europe, and (3) it encapsulates much of the past 150 years of European history.
Following the conclusion of the study abroad course in Berlin, we will spend six days as tourists in Amsterdam.  Amsterdam was selected because (1) it is an exciting city for students that is quite different from Berlin and (2) it contains wonderful museums, including the Anne Frank house.
