American Mathematics Competition 8

Science Math Resource Center will host the American Mathematics Competition 8 (AMC 8) online for middle schoolers on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 5:30pm. The deadline to register is January 15.

The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute mathematics exam designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. Students through 8th grade are eligible to compete. Registration is free and open until all slots have been filled. The AMC 8 is part of the American Mathematics Competition series of the Mathematical Association of America.

Each student has to complete three steps to participate in the 2022 online AMC 8 contest:

  1. Fill-up the preliminary registration form [Registration is now closed for the 2022 competition. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions]
  2. Set-up an Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) account and register for AMC 8 through the invitational AoPS link. The AoPS link will be emailed once Step 1 (preliminary registration form) has been completed.
  3. Attend a mandatory online WebEx conference while taking the contest on January 20. The WebEx link will be emailed once your AoPS account set-up is done. The student must be on time, and the camera must remain on throughout the contest.

The AMC 8 Practice Problems will help to prepare students for the types of questions that can be found on the AMC 8 Competition.
