MSU Career, Internship & Student Employment Services provides faculty with a variety of services and support to assist with the academic advising and career exploration process for entering freshman, current students, and alumni.

We encourage students to begin career exploration at the beginning of their academic career rather than at the end. Our career planning model is centered on the philosophy that before selecting a career - values, interest, motivations, and personality-type should be recognized along with the opportunities and demands within particular occupations. Faculty support and assistance is crucial in guiding student academic exploration and career exploration.

With one week's notice, a Career, Internship & Student Employment Services staff member will provide a one-hour seminar on a variety of topics including but not limited to:

  • interview strategies that work the socialization process for new employees in the workplace
  • the art of the puzzle interview
  • writing winning resumes
  • business and professional communication
  • business etiquette
  • communication strategies for new employees
  • effective job search strategies
  • choosing a major
  • a related topic of your choice

As a part of our connection with employers, Career, Internship & Student Employment Services can provide a "real world" employer to speak with your class about relevant topics on employment or more technical issues applicable to an academic major.
