Dr. Frank Kerins
Frank Kerins, Jr. is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Jake Jabs College of
Business & Entrepreneurship (JJCBE) at Montana State. Frank has teaching, research,
and consulting interests in investment, corporate and entrepreneurial finance.Frank received a B.A. (mathematics) from Carroll College of Montana, a B.S. (mining
engineering) from Columbia University, an M.S. (mining engineering) from Montana Tech,
an M.B.A. from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
Much of Frank's recent research has been focused on the financial risks associated
with entrepreneurial ventures and initial public offerings. Frank's research has been
published in journals including Financial Management, the Journal of Financial and
Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Financial Economics. Frank is on the Board
of Directors of the CFA Society of Spokane with the primary responsibility of enhancing
the relationships between investment professionals and local universities and colleges.
Frank is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Professional Engineer (PE).
Before entering academia, Frank was a consulting, mining and civil engineer. Prior
to coming to Montana State University, Frank was a faculty member at Washington State
University, the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate
University, and the University of Otago in New Zealand.
