BOZEMAN - Duncan Patten, director of the Montana University System Water Center and research professor in the Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences at Montana State University, is one of 121 people worldwide selected to be in the initial group of Fellows named by the Ecological Society of America.

The Ecological Society of America is the world's largest professional organization for ecologists and environmental scientists. The 10,000-member organization established the Fellows program to recognize outstanding contribution in academic, government, nonprofit organizations and the broader society. The society was formed in 1915 to coordinate ecological research and its application to natural resource management.
