BOZEMAN - Saxophonist and jazz all-star Javon Jackson will play in concert with the Montana State University Concert Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Reynolds Recital Hall.

The MSU Jazz Lab Band and MSU Jazz Combos will open the concert.

Jackson came into international prominence as a member of legendary drummer Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Jackson has also toured and recorded with Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Donald Byrd, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Richard Davis, Bobby Hutcherson and Curtis Fuller.

Jackson has played on more than 125 recordings and has toured and recorded throughout the world. His band, the Javon Jackson Band, incorporates many styles including jazz, funk, R&B and rock.

Tickets for the concert, which are $10 for general admission and $5 for students, will be available at the door.
