BOZEMAN - Gary Strobel, professor emeritus in the Department of Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology at Montana State University and a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, was one of 21 participants selected for an international panel that met Dec. 7 to 9 in Washington D.C.

The panelists were asked to produce a document on "How Microbes Can Help Feed the World" to guide federal granting agencies, policy makers, academics and young scientists.

Strobel's research and academic interests have centered on microbe-higher plant relationships. He has lectured at more than 400 institutes and universities worldwide, published more than 360 articles in scientific journals and holds more than 50 U.S. and international patents.
