The life fellow designation is granted to an IEEE Fellow who is at least 65 years old and for whom the sum of the member's age and the number of years being an IEEE member exceeds 100.
Nehrir, who was designated as IEEE Fellow in 2010 in recognition of his contributions to alternative energy power generation, joined MSU's faculty in 1987. The IEEE grade of Fellow is conferred upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.
