Montana State University’s Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship will co-sponsor a free presentation, “Anatomy of a License: Tips, Traps and Best Practices,” on Wednesday, June 26, from 4-5:30 p.m. in room 108 of Reid Hall on the MSU campus.

According to event organizers, licenses for intellectual property are important and offer business opportunities, yet they are technically demanding, often risky, and present an array of choices that must be customized to fit specific situations. Further, negotiating with an international party can complicate the process, and mistakes in licensing can be costly.

At the event, licensing and international law attorneys Michael McCormick and Kevin Maler of the law firm Dorsey & Whitney will walk participants through key issues in licensing, as well as point out potential problems. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
