Montana State University’s seventh annual Gold Rush football game is set for Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7:05 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium versus Monmouth.

Gold Rush is a tradition that kicks off the Bobcat football season. During the season opener game, fans are encouraged to wear the color gold as a show of support for the team.

“Gold Rush enables fans to showcase their Bobcat spirit by filling the stadium with gold,” said Julie Kipfer, MSU director of marketing. “Plus, the presence of 17,000 cheering fans all wearing gold sets the stage for a successful season, and it makes for a challenging atmosphere for the opponents.”

The 2013 Gold Rush game will be the first game in which Bobcat football players wear the team’s new Under Armor uniforms, according to Drew Ingraham, associate athletic director for marketing and operations. In addition, Bobcat Stadium has been updated with new logo signage.

"As the Bobcat football program has evolved, so has the Gold Rush game," Ingraham said. “With an enhanced Bobcat logo and improved game day experience, Bobcat fans can experience a rush like never before."

Beginning Aug. 1, limited edition Gold Rush T-shirts will be available for purchase at Universal Athletic stores in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula, Kipfer said. Shirts are $12 and may also be ordered online at http://www.universalathletic.com or by calling 1-800-332-4574.
