BOZEMAN -- The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) will hold a workshop on Lean Manufacturing techniques Nov. 13 in Bozeman to help businesses increase productivity and competitiveness.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the MMEC conference room south of the MSU Stadium.

The workshop, led by MMEC Manufacturing Specialist Mark Shyne, costs $195 and includes a live factory simulation to demonstrate the results of using lean methods. Lunch will be provided. Attendees must register in advance.  Companies that are members of the Montana Manufacturing Council, a subsidiary of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, receive a five percent discount on each registration.

Lean manufacturing techniques can reduce waste at companies by cutting down on overproduction, overstocked inventories, defects and waiting, which frees up money for other purposes.

For more information and online registration, call the MMEC at (406) 994-3812 or visit the MMEC registration site at

MMEC is an outreach center in the MSU College of Engineering.
