Choirs from Montana State University, Bozeman High School and the Montana State Youth Chorale will join forces to perform "Chichester Psalms" by Leonard Bernstein at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman.

The choirs will be joined by Ilse Mari Lee, dean of the MSU Honors Program, playing organ; Stephen Versaevel, MSU music professor on percussion; and Brianna Vlach, harp.

According to Kirk Aamot, director of MSU's Montanans choral group, Bernstein’s daughter, Jamie, has called the piece “a resolution of conflicts” related to faith and fear. Commissioned to be performed at the Chichester Cathedral in Sussex, England, it remains one of Bernstein’s most enduring works for chorus, he said.

The Montanans will also sing two songs from Einojuhani Rautavaara’s "Suite de Lorca."Set to poetry by the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, the songs depict a dangerous scene as horsemen descend on the town of Córdoba in southern Spain.

The Bozeman High School Concert Choir will perform a choral setting of Gabriel Fauré’s "Pavane" and a spiritual by Jack Halloran.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for general admission, $5 for students. Hope Lutheran Church is located at 2152 Graf Street, just west of the intersection of Graf Street and 19th Avenue.
