Marianne Brough, the executive director of the Utah Youth Project with a variety of executive experiences in the areas of student diversity and event management, has been named director of operations for the Associated Students of Montana State University.

“Marianne comes to her new position with a strong background in mentoring and coaching youth and young adults along with her program design and enhancement skills,” said Chris Kearns, MSU Vice President of Student Success. Brough will report to Kearns when she begins work at MSU on Aug. 11.

Brough’s work has been student-centered and has promoted academic achievement, employment and independent living skills.  She has broad experience in public relations, strategic planning, organizational development, promoting cooperative relationships among organizations, and fiscal management and reporting. She has a master’s degree in professional communications from Westminster College and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah. While earning that degree, she participated in student government and interned with the Utah State House of Representatives.

Brough was hired following a national search, which included participation by students, faculty and staff.
