Montana State University’s Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship will host “The National Conversation on Board Diversity” from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at The Commons, located at 1794 E. Baxter Lane in Bozeman.

The event will feature a keynote speech by Dorothy Bradley, who currently serves as the nominating and corporate governance director for Northwestern Energy. She is also the national adviser for the American Prairie Foundation and a board member of One Montana, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting rural and urban communities in Montana.

The event will also include a presentation on gender diversity on boards, which will be given by Britt Ide, MSU alumna and president and founder of Ide Law & Strategy. The 2020 Gender Diversity Index uses the 2010 Fortune 1000 list as a baseline to track the progress women have made in obtaining board seats. Nationally, women hold 17.7 percent of board seats in Fortune 1000 companies, up from 16.6 percent last year.

A networking reception, with hors d’oeuvres, will follow the presentations.

MSU is partnering with 2020 Women on Boards, a national campaign dedicated to increasing the percentage of women on corporate boards to 20 percent by the year 2020, to bring the event to Bozeman. Bozeman is one of 18 cities around the globe hosting the event. As part of the campaign, more than 1,000 people are expected to discuss what it will take for the U.S. to become a global leader in advancing women to the boardroom.

Registration for the Bozeman event is $38 per person; student tickets are available for $25. Advance registration is preferred, but tickets will also be available at the door.
