Montana State University Extension in Gallatin County and the Gallatin Valley Land Trust have received $160,000, available over three years, to assist landowners in reducing wildfire risk and improving the health of their forests. The funding provides landowners with financial assistance to create defensible space near their homes, improve ingress and egress to their property and improve the health and diversity of their forests.

The first round of applications will be due Wednesday, Nov. 11. More information about how interested landowners can apply for funding is available online at http://www.msuextension.org/gallatin/naturalresourcessouthbozeman.html or by contacting Brad Bauer, MSU Extension agent in Gallatin County, at (406) 388-3213 or brad.bauer@montana.edu

The funding for this program is from the U.S. Forest Service and was awarded by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
