Alan B. Williams, a senior in cell biology and neuroscience from Billings, has been awarded the Harold Watling Scholarship for outstanding achievement by a senior pre-medical student at Montana State University.

Williams graduated from MSU-Billings in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and is finishing his second bachelor's degree at MSU-Bozeman. Williams' $1,500 scholarship will be applied to his medical school expenses. The award was announced April 10 at the initiation and award ceremony of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the health professions scholastic honorary society at MSU. Williams was inducted into AED in 2003.

Harold Watling was a professor of zoology at MSU from 1947-1980 and a respected premedical advisor. The Watling Scholarship was started by one of Watling's former students, Dr. David Burgan of Polson.

Williams is the son of Richard and Yvonne Williams of Billings.
