This Friday marks the 10th anniversary of the Tracy Awards, an award show that celebrates the dedication and commitment of graduating film students from Montana State University's School of Film and Photography program. The ceremony is completely funded, organized, and run by students and is the culmination of their work as artists at Montana State University. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the film program at MSU.

The award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, in the Crawford Theater at the Emerson Cultural Center. Awards for 15 different categories will be given, ranging from best sound design to best actress to best picture.

"It's the Oscars of MSU," said Alex M. White, Tracy Awards coordinator and senior film student. "People will be amazed by the production value of our work. The quality of the films is something we're all really proud of."

There are also opportunities to see and vote for all 25 short films produced by the senior class at the Tracys Advance Screenings, which are open to the public. The films range from narrative to non-fiction, experimental to animation, and are anywhere between 3 minutes to 10 minutes in length. The audience will have an opportunity to cast their votes at the Advance Screening starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Procrastinator Theater in the SUB. The final Advance Screening will be held Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m. in the Crawford Theater at the Emerson Cultural Center, but voting will be closed.
