A gold panning class will be held at the Museum of the Rockies Saturday, June 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Museum has partnered with Earth's Treasures to teach the basics of panning for gold through demonstration, instruction, and hands on activities. In a 90-minute class, an instructor will teach what to look for while prospecting for gold, and discuss various methods of mining gold, from simple to complex. With the registration of this class, participants will receive a gold pan kit complete with a gold pan, instructional book, sucking tweezers, holding vile, plus a bag of sand guaranteed to contain some gold. Participants will pan for gold during the class and take some home. Children over 12 years old are welcome to attend with an adult.

The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required at 994-5282. For more information on events at the Museum of the Rockies, visit museumoftherockies.org.
