Guitarist and lutenist Hideki Yamaya will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus.

Yamaya will present a concert on the vihuela de mano (a guitar-like instrument with Spanish roots), Renaissance lute and Baroque guitar. Composers represented will include Luis Milan, Luis de Narvaez, Alonso Mudarra, John Dowland, Angelo Michele Bartolotti and Santiago de Murci.

Yamaha has performed as an accompanist and a soloist with the Portland Opera, Obsidian Chamber Orchestra, Astoria Music Festival and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. His concert schedule has taken him to Canada, Japan, Great Britain and Italy.

A resident of Portland, Ore., Yamaha teaches and performs in the Portland area and in central Oregon. He has both a master's and bachelor's degree in music from University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.F.A. from University of California, Irvine, in guitar and lute performance.

Tickets for the concert are $10 general and $5 student and will be available at the door. The Reynolds Recital Hall is located in Howard Hall, across the street from the MSU Duck Pond.
