Marvin Lansverk, professor of English at Montana State University, will read selections from William Blake in the Atrium/Brewed Awakening area of Renne Library at noon on Wednesday, March 24.

Lansverk will also present an interactive, multimedia presentation about poet and painter William Blake at 7 p.m. at the Bozeman Public Library's Community Meeting Room.

"Tyger By the Tail: Experiencing William Blake's Visionary Poetry " will be preceded by a reception, beginning at 6:30 pm.

William Blake's "The Tyger" is one of the most popular poems in English. In addition to being a poet and painter, Blake was also a founder of British Romanticism. He was a visionary, whose works continue to appear as songs on pop radio, as hymns in church on Sundays and are even transformed into slogans for Nike advertising campaigns. Blake created an intriguingly complex body of work that nevertheless masquerades as--and in many ways still is--children's poetry.

This program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Friends of Bozeman Public Library, the MSU Department of English and the MSU Libraries.
