Active Minds of MSU-Bozeman will host "Send Silence Packing" from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in front of Montana Hall. The event is an effort to shed light on the tragedy of college student suicide and start a dialogue about what organizers call a heavily stigmatized topic; it will include a public education display of 1,100 donated backpacks representing the 1,100 college students lost to suicide each year.

Send Silence Packing was developed by Active Minds, Inc., a voice for college student mental health in the United States. Send Silence Packing carries the message that preventing suicide is not just about lowering statistics, but about saving the lives of students, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends across the nation.

Active Minds is taking Send Silence Packing on a ten-city tour across the country in April and May. The tour is made possible by a $50,000 grant from Pepsi's Refresh Everything competition, with additional support from Family Support Foundation for Mental Illness, Cellular One and the Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute.

Note: In case of inclement weather, the display will be held indoors at the SUB.
