Jack Horner will be on hand to meet and talk with kids between 2-4 p.m. Special showings of "The Dinosaur Chronicles" will be offered in the Taylor Planetarium at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. In addition to dinosaur face painting, four different activity areas will be available during the afternoon. Children who visit all four areas will receive a coupon for 20 percent off one item in the Museum Store.
In "What is a Fossil" kids will learn what fossils are and make fossil rubbings to take home. In "Histology" they can learn about histology--the cellular study of bones--and make and color their own bone histology image. The "Process of Paleontology" will show how dinosaur bones make their way from the ground to a Museum and kids can participate in a mock fossil preparation activity. In "Raptor vs. Raptor" kids will explore the similarities between modern birds and dinosaurs and make a raptor craft of their own.
