The Museum of the Rockies will host Dinosaur Family Day, which will allow participants to explore the Siebel Dinosaur Complex with "Monty" the Dinosaur and Jack Horner, from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Museum of the Rockies. The event is free for museum members and included with paid admission.

Jack Horner will be on hand to meet and talk with kids between 2-4 p.m. Special showings of "The Dinosaur Chronicles" will be offered in the Taylor Planetarium at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. In addition to dinosaur face painting, four different activity areas will be available during the afternoon. Children who visit all four areas will receive a coupon for 20 percent off one item in the Museum Store.

In "What is a Fossil" kids will learn what fossils are and make fossil rubbings to take home. In "Histology" they can learn about histology--the cellular study of bones--and make and color their own bone histology image. The "Process of Paleontology" will show how dinosaur bones make their way from the ground to a Museum and kids can participate in a mock fossil preparation activity. In "Raptor vs. Raptor" kids will explore the similarities between modern birds and dinosaurs and make a raptor craft of their own.
