MSU's 11th annual Move-In Day is Wednesday, Aug. 24. Each year we band together with fellow faculty, staff and community members to serve more than 1,700 students and their families with moving their mounds of stuff into the residence halls. It's a meaningful and fun day for our students and a great opportunity to welcome them to their new home on campus.

Even more help is needed this year with the new 168-room freshmen section of Family Housing's Julia Martin Complex. Please consider joining the Move-In Day team. If you have 2.5 hours to give on Aug. 24, please contact Susan Fraser in my office at or at 994-2341. Here are the questions she will ask you:

1. Choice of work shift: 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m., 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.* or 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

2. Choice of residence hall: Hannon, Hapner, Johnstone, Langford, North Hedges, South Hedges, Roskie or the new Julia Martin section; and

3. Preferred size of vest for first-time volunteers.

*Please note: the 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. shift really needs help - last year we did not have enough people.

This is a great time to get out and make first contact with incoming students and their parents as well as a time to meet folks from across campus and town. I hope you can join us and give our students an early experience of the Blue and Gold spirit.
