MontanaPBS' "11th & Grant with Eric Funk" presents Rio, on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. It repeats Feb. 26 at 10:10 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2:01 a.m.

In America during the late '50s and early '60s, a new sound made landfall: Brazilian Jazz. This intimate, straight-time "bossa nova" sound quickly hit the airwaves and took hold on records and in live performances by everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Dave Brubeck.

Rio brings a stylistically pure performance through the haunting voice of Julia Yates and the skilled hands of guitarist Tim Drackert. Pete Hand plays acoustic bass, Don Stone is on trombone and Dennis Unsworth plays drums.

"11th & Grant with Eric Funk" is a music series that seeks out the best musicians in Montana and invites them into your home for in-depth interviews and performances recorded at the KUSM-TV studios, located at 11th and Grant on the Montana State University campus in Bozeman. The show is hosted by composer, musician and MSU faculty member, Eric Funk who also serves as the series' artistic director.
