JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION:                           Health Advancement Student Intern

DEPARTMENT:                  Health Advancement, University Health Partners

WAGE and HOURS:          15-20 hrs/week, $8.50/hr (with ability to work non-traditional hours)

 

Under supervision of the Director of Health Advancement and the Health Education Specialist, the student in this position is responsible for development, implementation, and assessment of health education programs for the MSU community. Duties may include but are not limited to:

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Initiate and coordinate the distribution of Health Advancement resources throughout campus
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and coordinating events for students (Museum of the Rockies After Dark, Condom Fashion Show, etc.) relevant to student well-being
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate well-being programs tailored to MSU students on a variety of health and well-being topics and review/revise materials for appropriateness to student population as necessary
  • Perform research on relevant health and well-being topics
  • Identify and collaborate with other campus and community organizations on Health Advancement initiatives
  • Conduct presentations as requested on a variety of health and well-being topics
  • Serve as a Health Advancement and University Health Partners resource on campus
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience / Requirements:

Successful candidate should:

 

  • Have working knowledge of Healthy Campus 2020, primary prevention, theory-based practice, program planning, and research/evaluation methods
  • Help shape the campus environment and its influence on health behaviors
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and competence communicating information, directions and procedures to a variety of people both internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other departments on campus
  • Demonstrate conflict resolution skills and ability to deal with various personalities in a dynamic work environment
  • Advocate for health and well-being initiatives on the MSU campus and in the greater Bozeman community
  • Ability to consistently exercise initiative, reliability, self-motivation, and good judgment
  • Perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Handle multiple projects, manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks and balance shifting demands
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment and also have the ability to work independently
  • Represent the Office of Health Advancement and its programs to others in a professional and courteous manner

 

Preferable:

Health Promotion/Community Health knowledge

Potential to focus on nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, body image, and/or alcohol tobacco and other drug prevention

Experience working with focus groups and/or experience in data analysis

POSITION:                           Work Study, Prevention Education Facilitator

DEPARTMENT:                  Health Advancement, University Health Partners

WAGE:                                  $8.50/hr

HOURS:                                10-15 hrs/week with ability to work a minimum of 2 hours per day Monday-Friday

 

Under supervision of the Director of Health Advancement and the Health Education Specialist, the student in this position is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing required online education programs for all incoming students. Duties may include but are not limited to:

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer online educational programs for all incoming students on alcohol, sexual assault prevention and financial education
  • Knowledge of Excel and managing basic databases
  • Collaborate with campus partners to facilitate online educational programs
  • Respond to calls, emails, and in person questions about the online education requirements
  • Perform research on relevant topics
  • Serve as a Health Advancement resource on campus
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience / Requirements:

POSITION:                           Student Graphic Designer

DEPARTMENT:                  Health Advancement, University Health Partners

WAGE and HOURS:          15-20 hrs/ week, $10.00/hr

 

Under the direction of the Director of Health Advancement and the Health Educator, and in coordination with other offices and departments within University Health Partners, the Student Graphic Designer will:

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Update current publications and create new publications (including postcards, brochures,

advertisements, graphics, table tents, posters and web features) to serve the marketing needs of the Office of Health Advancement and University Health Partners 

  • In consultation with staff, identify appropriate photos, graphic elements, and videos to add

value to the program marketing on the website and social media platforms

  • Explore new ways of marketing Health Advancement programs in print and digital formats
  • Help facilitate OHA events and campaigns with ability to work after-hour events

 

Experience / Requirements:

Successful candidate should:

 

  • Have extensive experience with graphic design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Have artistic sensibility, be creative, and willing to learn
  • Understand and independently carry out oral and written instructions while adhering to deadlines
  • Be detail oriented and capable of managing several projects at once.
  • Learn and successfully use new software programs as needed to fulfill job duties
  • Have basic knowledge of marketing principles and design aesthetics
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships including communication with OHA staff
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of both Mac and PC operating systems
  • Knowledge of print and production processes
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors for pricing, ordering of designs, etc.
  • Understand and adhere to copyright law and MSU’s graphic design policies

 

Preferable:

Health Promotion/Community Health knowledge

Photography and digital photo editing skills

Basic understanding of principles of marketing
