Description:

Danielle Ciesielski is an applied mathematics Ph.D. candidate at Montana State University with a special interest in systems biology. Her research is focused on understanding and optimizing a novel DNA test for malaria, traumatic brain injuries, and other conditions that produce microRNA biomarkers. In this talk, she'll discuss how her fascination with how change occurs led her from STEM and then back again, identifying places where institutionalized sexism may have thrown in a few detours along the way. She'll then talk about her current and recent research projects, along with her work with the Graduate Employee Organization of Montana State, and how it's all related.
