The hall is headquarters for family and consumer sciences (formerly home economics), as well as the food and nutrition laboratories, early childhood education, and the MSU Child Development Center lab.

Built in 1926, the name honors Mrs. Una Herrick, first dean of women who served MSC students 1911-32.
