Goal 1:
Increased enrollment, graduation and retention rates for BIPOC students

  • Work with Admissions and Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) on developing strategies for diversifying recruitment
  • Connect with retention programs (Hilleman, Sophomore Surge, TRIO, EMPower, etc.) to see how to best work with BIPOC students to inform strategy
  • Commit to, and expand, the Senior Diversity and Inclusion Officer’s various membership on policy and strategy committees (PEC, Leadership Council, Strategic Enrollment Management)
  • Collaboration with a diversity student leadership council (Academic Diversity Partners? ASMSU? Use of existing programs?) that somehow informs other campus leadership groups (ASMSU, Enrollment Council, Leadership Council?)

 Goal 2:
Policies and strategies that are reflective of data in a sustainable iterative process that are in alignment with MSU’s strategic plan

  • Expand existing programs and student organizations (such as the DISC and the Black Student Union respectively) to allow prospective and current BIPOC students to find support systems, and provide input in creating MSU policy and strategies.
  • In coordination with MSU Strategic Plan Goal 1.1, ensure enrollment, retention rates, and graduations rates of BIPOC students increase relative to student enrollment growth
  • Create processes to utilize research and data to inform strategy of recruiting students (How are we going to use data?)
  • Develop a survey addressing why BIPOC students chose MSU, and why they are staying at MSU to better serve these students

Goal 3:

Extensive, transparent, and accessible data and resources for the community

  • Continue to track and report on retention and graduation rates by race annually
  • Continue to track and report on hiring of faculty and staff by race annually
  • Review MSU current inventory of survey tools and data
  • Creation of transparent and easy-to-read media (ex. Updated website)/ Create a laymen analysis of data that is easily accessible to students, community, and faculty
    • Work with the Office of Planning and Analysis to create such media
