Online Resources:

All of the following online materials were developed as prevention resources and can be disseminated into Montana communities through Extension Agents, Prevention Specialist, Mental Health Professionals, Community Coalitions, and other Community advocacy groups across Montana.

Prescription Opioid Awareness and Education Toolkit (developed in 2021)

 

Each module contains a PowerPoint presentation, printed resources, and links to online videos and resources.  Modules can be taught together or separately depending on the needs of the community and the time contraints of the facilitator. 

 

Prescription Opioid Awareness and Education Social Media Templates

Eight sequencial social media templates were created each containing images and text to use on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

 

Prescription Drug Take Back Days: PSA Radio/Newspaper Scripts

Two PSA radio scripts were developed to highlight the National Prescription Drug Take Back Days that occur in April and October of each year 

Social and Emotional Learning and You! An Educational Module for Teen Audiences

Research indicates that social and emotional learning plays a significant role in positive adolescent outcomes. Facilitators can access this 45-minute presentation for teens for use  by professionals who work directly with teens.

Perceptions, Attitudes, and Behaviors Concerning Opioids and Stimulants Among High School Youth in Rural Montana

In 2020, our team applied for and received another SAMHSA grant allowing us to provide opioid AND
stimulant use and misuse education, outreach, and training to rurally located Montana youth and adults who
frequently interact with them. To inform the development of the youth-based outreach and education
resources, a statewide survey was distributed to rural high schools.

In December of 2018 a factsheet was designed  to provide Montanans with a list of common opioids, awareness of the impacts opioid use and misuse has on children, and national and state statistics pertaining to opioid use, misuse, and overdose deaths (all stats updated in April of 2023).

SAMHSA ADVISORY: Prescripton Stimulant Misuse Among Youth and Young Adults

Our Funders, SAMHSA, have put out an Advisory on prescription stimulant misuse and prevention among our target population. This document is a great resource for educating communities on everything they need to know about the use and misuse of prescription stimulants.

 This infographic provides a list of common prescription stimulants, signs of prescription medication misuse, a list of illegal stimulants, signs of a stimulant overdose, and a helpline for Montanans to access.
