MARIAS FAIR AIR PISTOL AND AIR RIFLE TOURNAMENT

Air Pistol and Air Rifle project members from Liberty, Glacier, Pondera and Toole Counties can participate in the Marias Fair Air Pistol and Air Rifle tournament on February 23, 2020. The registration deadline is February 14th. No late registrations will be accepted. Time slot requests are time and date stamped and are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Please register early if you want a specific time. The registration form was emailed to all participants. You can also pick up a form at the Ext. office.

RECORD BOOKS

Are you interested in online record-keeping? Montana 4-H is trying out a new tool called Zsuites. Unlike the forms found on the 4-H website this a  web based program so can be accessed from any computer with wifi. If you are interested, call the Extension office.

LIBERTY COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL

The Liberty County 4-H Council met on Wednesday, January 30, 2020.

 Jesse reported that the Livestock Committee changed the swine weight requirements for Marias Fair to 220 lbs - 300 lbs. Also, tenderfoot will not be allowed in swine pens.

 Matt Fenger and Shane Kenfield will be selling Shiloh Sharpes rifle raffle tickets. Proceeds will go towards the storage unit that was purchased. Please contact Matt or Shane if you’d like a ticket.

 The Liberty County Community Development Committee is going to be selling Liberty-opoly games. This is a spin off of Monopoly with the properties featuring local businesses. The Liberty County 4-H Council will be on the back of all the deed cards. Stay tuned for more information on where and when the games will be available.

 We still have 3 Greytak calendars left. If you’d like to purchase one please call the Liberty County Extension office.

 Liberty County needs a food booth day chair or co-chairs for the fair. Please consider helping out!

Market Hog Giveaway Program

Habets Show Pigs of Conrad is offering an opportunity to win a free market hog. Applications are due by March 4th and must be signed by parent(s) or guardian(s) to be considered. If interested you can pick up an application at the Liberty County Extension office.

 They will also be hosting their annual Show Pig Sale on March 28, 2020 at the Marias fair grounds in Shelby at the Open Beef Barn. Viewing and free lunch will start at 10:30 followed by an auction at noon.

 This year’s pigs were born between December, January and the beginning of February. They offer a rewards program to the kids that purchase hogs from them. For more information call 406-278-9154.

2020 REC LAB:  PERFECT VISION FOR THE FUTURE

This event provides an opportunity for youth and adults to enhance their leadership, communication and team building skills in an action packed and interactive setting. Rec Lab programming is designed to provide participants with tips and tricks for being a better club, camp and community leader. This is an ideal event for younger senior members to attend a state event for the first time and begin to form relationships with 4-H peers form across the state, broadening their own skills and widening their network. 

 Rec Lab will be hosted by District 3 in Hobson on April 24-26, 2020. More information will be coming.

 Youth participants must be 13+ as of October 1, 2019 and adult chaperones must be as least 21 years of age.

SEWING PROJECT

Sewing member, Kyra Anderson is already working away on various projects that she’ll be able to take to the fair. Under the guidance of her project leader, Betty Ann Wolery, she has made Christmas Pillows and a fun fleece hat and mitten set

4-H MULTI-COUNTY CAMP COUNSELORS NEEDED

 Applications for the Multi-county 4-H Camp counselors are due by Monday, February 10, 2020. To apply, you must be in grades 9 through 12 (15-18 years old). You must enjoy working with children and be willing to participate in all counselor training sessions. Training sessions will be scheduled in March and April.

 4-H Camp will be held on June 8th - 10th at Camp Kiwanis in Beavercreek Park south of Havre. Camp will include 4-H members from Blaine, Glacier, Phillips, Hill, Toole, Pondera, Chouteau and Liberty Counties.
