Employment Details/Requirements

  • Available starting May 28, 2024
  • Camp runs: June 10 - August 2 (No camp July 1 - 5)
  • Hours per week: 35-40 
  • Starting Pay Rate: $18/hour

 Availability for full program commitment is preferred.

Job Description:

Collaborate with Program Leads in the implementation of Bobcat Summer Youth Camp at Montana State University through the Campus Recreation department. Engage and participate in all activities and supervise the overall daily camp operations and campers. Contribute to a team by leading and teaching a variety of different activities each week including: songs, crafts, games, and sports given the week’s theme. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all staff, campers, and families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of BSYC policies and procedures
  • Assist in the facilitation of all activities and experiences
  • Willingness to adjust curriculum for the specific needs of your campers
  • Administer first aid, handle emergency situations, and follow program protocol as necessary
  • Engage campers during drop-off, pick-up, and other down periods
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities
  • Responsible for cleanup of equipment and supplies at the end of the day
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Demonstrate experience working with children in an assertive and caring manner
  • Mediate conflicts involving counselors, campers, and families
  • Demonstrate customer service skills
  • Ability to work closely and communicate with a diverse group of people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and time management abilities
  • Creative minded and willing to contribute ideas for activities and camp programming

Certifications and Trainings:

  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED (training provided)
  • Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting (training provided)
  • Summer Outdoor Safety & Blood Borne Pathogens (training provided)
  • Must pass background screening
  • Attendance at required at all staff meetings and trainings
