Job Description

The maintenance technician helps manage the Hosaeus Fitness Center (HFC) cardio/strength equipment, assists with event set-up/take-down needs, and responsible for safe, proper, and clean operation of all equipment in HFC. The position is expected to have great communication, uphold excellent customer service to our patrons, be professional, and the ability to work independently with multiple tasks assigned to them.


Job Duties

  • Monitor our equipment reporting program, Club Vitals
    • On a daily basis check Club Vitals for reported tickets on issues with cardio or strength equipment.
    • Check in with Operations Supervisor on protocols for equipment under warranty and equipment not under warranty and how to handle a solution.
  • Preventative Maintenance on all applicable equipment
    • Follow a check list of items that need to be completed to ensure our equipment is and will run properly and safely. For example, lubricate machines, check bolts on benches, and much more)
  • Ensure all machines are clean and in proper alignment
  • Help with needs for Rec. Sports & Fitness event set-up and take-down
  • Enforce all rules and policies on our fitness floor to ensure safety of our patrons
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance room and tool cabinets
    • Taking inventory of supply needs of maintenance room
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor
  • Help support the turf field building maintenance and plowing of the turf field
  • Job hours vary depending on workload but are estimated about 12 hours a week


Position requirements

  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Provide excellent customer services to our patrons
  • Professionalism: wear a staff shirt and nametag when on shift and close-toe shoes
  • Have excellent communication with supervisor and other Rec Sports staff
  • Being reliable and accountable, which includes attending all assigned shifts
