Ph.D. Optical Sciences

Fellow, OSA and SPIE

I design, build, and calibrate optical remote sensing systems and use them to explore the natural Earth environment. From infrared imaging of clouds to laser detection of fish, optical remote sensing helps answer intriguing scientific questions while providing fascinating engineering challenges.

At Montana State University I teach classes on optical remote sensing systems, optical design, and related aspects of optics and electromagnetics. I also teach SPIE and industrial short courses on lidar for autonomous vehicles, radiometry, and remote sensing systems.

Inquiries are welcomed from interested students and potential collaborators.
