Thank you for signing-up to participate as an NCUR 2020 volunteer. Below is information about the various roles for which we are hoping to have volunteers – please review this information prior to selecting a role.

 

You will need to plan to arrive at the volunteer hub (located in the SUB, Room 233) at least 15-30 minutes prior to your shift to check-in. You do not have to check-in multiple times for consecutive shifts of the same role. If you need to change your volunteer commitment, please contact [email protected]

 

If you signed up for multiple volunteer roles, you will eventually receive an additional email for each role.

 

After you check-in and receive your NCUR volunteer badge, you can use your badge during the conference days to receive breakfast and lunch for free as well as participate in the plenary sessions if you would like.

Volunteer Positions List

These positions are open to undergraduate & graduate students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Attendants

  • Info Tent Attendant: Efficiently maintain and direct the flow of traffic for NCUR Check-In/Registration
  • Registration Attendant: Help conference attendees navigate the conference (locating buildings, answer questions, etc.)

Event Assistance and Setup

  • Graduate School Fair Assistant: Assist in guiding NCUR guests to relevant tables at the Graduate School Fair & assist Graduate School representatives with any needs that come up. 
  • Opening Ceremony & Keynote Speakers Assistant: Assist in scanning tickets at the entrance and guiding NCUR guests to their seats. Also, help with tech/room set-up prior to the event.
  • Art Exhibit Assistance: Assisting students in finding their art exhibit location and helping set-up art work in a safe and organized fashion. 
  • Poster Presentation Assistance: Assist students in finding their poster kiosk and helping them to hang up their posters prior to their 
  • Culinary Assistant Duties: Basic food prep, replenishment of food at point of service, and basic cleaning of service area. Position is paid for students or temporary workers - $10/hour. Position is a volunteer position for regular MSU Staff and Faculty.

  • Culinary Sanitation Assistant Duties: Basic food prep, replenishment of food at point of service, and basic cleaning of service area. Position is paid for students or temporary workers - $10/hour. Position is a volunteer position for regular MSU Staff and Faculty.

  • Catering Assistant Duties: Assisting with drop offs/pick-ups, service for receptions, buffets, or plated meals, and assisting in the catering back hall. Position is paid for students or temporary workers - $10/hour. Position is a volunteer position for regular MSU Staff and Faculty.

Greeters

  • Building Greeter: Greet NCUR guests and help direct them to the registration desk or sessions they are seeking to attend. Report to leadership team any building safety concerns/emergencies.
  • Shuttle Drop Off Greeter: Greet NCUR guests and help direct them to the correct area of campus.
  • Airport Greeter: Greet NCUR guests at the Bozeman Yellowstone airport and help them locate the NCUR bus that will bring them to their hotel.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Campus Luggage Volunteer: Help NCUR guests check in their luggage at the MSU 'Lugage Storage Room' in the Fieldhouse. 
  • Airport Luggage Volunteer: Help NCUR guests who've arrived to the airport load their luggage onto the NCUR hotel shuttle. 
  • Runner/Floater: A runner will fill in the gaps, run errands, or even take over a role for someone who didn't show up for their volunteer position.
