ITEM No. 4 – RECOMMENDATION – Bobcat Stadium Master Plan

Madison Graff presented the recommendation to approve the Bobcat Stadium Master Plan (the Plan).

The Plan is intended to guide development and improvements of the stadium over the next 20 years and was created with consideration given to many different stakeholders. A main goal with the design is to allow for more frequent use of the stadium and improved amenities.

The Plan specifies the following for the east side, north bowl and west side:

  • East side renovations will include team gathering spaces for fans, first aid and police stations, a Team Store, modifications to seating and optional club space with views of Bridger Mountains.
  • North bowl improvements include suite and club space, increasing spectator seating including accessible seating, installation of a larger scoreboard using the existing structure, and vetting the need for a smaller scoreboard on the south bowl.
  • The west side plan focuses on improving usability of the existing structure and streamlining circulation, improvements of suites, renovating interior fixtures and finishes, and the possibility of adding an exterior deck.

The Plan to be considered in conjunction with the Athletics Master Plan and was created by the Bobcat Stadium Master Plan Advisory Committee. Consideration was given to the stadium’s relationship with the rest of campus and the Bozeman community. The central goals are to improve the connectivity of the stadium to the rest of campus, improve circulation along Kagy Boulevard, create new outdoor gathering spaces and implement a security boarder around the entire stadium.

Future discussions with stakeholders will provide an opportunity to explain the relevance of a possible Kagy Boulevard crossing within the context of the Bobcat Stadium’s plans for future development. Other discussions with stakeholders have included ideas and concepts for future uses including music events, rodeo events, youth sporting events, conferences, and school field trips integrated with the Museum of the Rockies.

Duane Morris motioned to approve the Bobcat Stadium Master Plan as presented.

Brett Gunnink seconded the motion.

The Vote: 14 Aye, 0 Nay.
