ITEM No. 4 – RECOMMENDATION – Rainbow Crosswalks

Presenter: Richard Rudnicki

Richard Rudnicki presented the proposal to paint four rainbow crosswalks on MSU’s campus. The crosswalks were originally proposed by the College of Art and Architecture (CAA) and have been approved by the Public Art and Artifacts Committee. The four crosswalks will be ADA-accessible and in order to maximize their lifespan, will be sequentially installed during the Spring of 2021. Painting will begin with the South 12th Avenue crosswalks, followed by South 11th Avenue. Approval for the South 11th Avenue installation was given by the City of Bozeman and further coordination with respect to appropriate timing and durability of materials will ensue.

All proposed locations for the crosswalks will be in proximity to CAA based on their planning and funding involvement with the project. The University Services leadership team previously discussed expanding the project to other locations in the future and the Committee agreed that this would demonstrate inclusivity across the entire campus.

David Singel moved to approve the recommendation.

Tom Rogers seconded the motion.

The Vote: 15 Aye, 0 Nay
