Section Report Update Directions:

Please save your department's changes for Spring 2024 using a copy of the Excel spreadsheet provided and save in Knox. The saved spreadsheet should include the department information with ALL corrections indicated in RED. Do not overwrite original information, rather, use the strikethroughfeature in order to maintain the historical record if there ever is a need to revert to the original schedule. If you are adding or changing instructors, include the full name, along with the last four digits of their GID #. Otherwise, the instructor will default to "Staff”. Please cancel courses that are capped at “zero” if your department will not be offering that course for the term and release any Registrar scheduled rooms back into the general scheduling pool. Email [email protected] when your changes have been saved to Knox in order to save your spot in the queue.

OTD: Out of Term Dates - These are term dates that do not fit within the provided parts of term, however these dates do not roll from term to term and this designation is discouraged.

CRN: Course Reference Numberthis number is automatically generated in Banner with each term and is term specific. If copying a course from another term to have added to the upcoming term, it will need to be assigned a new CRN in banner when the course is built, therefore should be marked as “ADD” on the spreadsheet.

Instructional Method This is the modality designation where the course is assigned Face to Face, Blended, Online, or Video Conferencing. If this space is empty, please note in red the preferred modality for the course (encouraged face to face, any other modality will require Provost approval). This should match what is listed for the Session.

Session - This is another area to list modality and is what will be noted on MyInfo.

PTRM Start and End Date These dates are the reflection of the Part of Term selected, if a course is listed as OTD please note the section dates in these boxes in red.

Class Days, Times, Building - These columns note the course days, times, and room assignment. For most courses - only Day 1, Time 1, and Building 1 will be listed. If a course has an additional meeting time other than the one listed, this can be noted in red in the subsequent columns for 2, 3, etc.

Campus - Signifies the campus on which the course will take place.

Z: Bozeman, ZO: Bozeman Online, ZGC: Gallatin College, ZGO: Gallatin College Online.

Current Max Capacity - Is the section capacity as it will appear in MyInfo and will prevent students from registering beyond this listed capacity. Sometimes current max capacity is set below the final projected capacity to manage seat-fill throughout the registration process.

Final Projected Capacity - Is the anticipated final capacity of the course at the end of the registration cycle.  The projected capacity is used to assess the total availability of course and section enrollment and is particularly valuable for sections that use rolling-capacity to manage seat-fill throughout the registration process. Max and Projected capacity are often the same in cases outside of rolling-capacity practice.

Course Delivery Breakdown

Each course will be offered in 1 of the following 4 formats:

Face to Face or In-Person (Default):

MSU prioritizes in-person instruction.  These classes meet in a physical classroom on campus during defined days and times listed in MyInfo. Students enrolling in in-person class are expected to attend and participate in class unless sick or quarantined.  Instruction will vary by instructor and details of expectations will be available on the course syllabus offered at the beginning of the semester.  This is the default offering and how a class will be delivered unless otherwise noted.

Online Synchronous (Video Conferencing):

Course is fully online and has specific meeting days and times. These classes meet in a virtual classroom during defined days and times listed. Students enrolling in an online-synchronous class will be expected to attend and participate in class unless sick or quarantined. This delivery method will be noted in MyInfo as "Video Conferencing."

Online Asynchronous (Internet/Online):

Course is fully online without standard meeting times. While there will not be weekly meeting times, instructors may incorporate time-bound elements. This delivery method will be noted in MyInfo as "Internet/Online."

Blended (Blended - Online and Onsite):

In blended classes, students will have both online and face-to-face components. Like our other course modalities, the content delivery in a blended course can vary. This delivery method will be noted in MyInfo as "Blended – Online and Onsite." Because of the many different ways that instructors implement blended courses, students may want to contact the instructor of the course to best understand the specifics of how a particular course will be Blended for online and onsite delivery.
