What is your academic history? I got a B.S. in Chemistry at the Evergreen State University in Washington.

What is your research focus? My research focus is on the design of antimicrobials to target biofilm forming bacteria. My goal is to develop antimicrobials that have a wide array of industrial applications including sanitation in hospitals and control of biological corrosion in water treatment plants.

What is/are your career aspiration(s)? My career aspiration is to obtain a tenure track professorship at a university. Also to maybe go into industry for a few years. I don’t know. I’d like to have my own research someday really.

Why did you choose MSU for grad school? I chose MSU because of the professor that I work for and the project he offered me. The chemistry he does is very interesting and it’s in line with the type of chemist i want to be. I also get to collaborate with the center for biofilm engineering which is a leading research facility in its field.

What is one non-academic interest/hobby that you have/do? I enjoy climbing and skiing as well as most other outdoor activities.
