Saperda calcarata

The poplar beetle, Saperda calcarata, is a species of longhorn beetle native to North America. Adults are 18 to 33-mm long. They overwinter and emerge  June to August and females lay eggs in chewed bark slits. Poplar beetle larvae are a forest pest that injure poplar, aspen, and cottonwood.
