Oiceoptoma sp.

Oiceoptoma noveboracense is a species of carrion beetle. The adult feeds on carrion and fly larvae that are also feeding on carrion. The larva also feeds on carrion. The adult can be easily identified by the orange-red margins on the pronotum. This diurnal species is typically found in the spring and fall. They are also a key species for use in the forensic science field in determining postmortem intervals.
