chrysidid sp.

This is an adult cuckoo wasp. These wasps are solitary and often lay parasitic eggs near host insect nests. Many cuckoo wasps have flat or concave underside abdomens, allowing them to roll up in a protective stance. Their spectacular iridescent colors result from the way light interacts with microstructures on their exoskeletons.
