Lophocampa maculata

Lophocampa maculata, the spotted tussock moth, is a common tiger moth species ranging widely in North America. The wingspan is 35 to 45 mm. The caterpillars are "wooly bears" and feed on poplar, willow, alder, and birch. There is only one generation per year.
