Sweltsa - green stonefly

This species in the genus Sweltsa is a member of the green stonefly family, Chloroperlidae. Most adults are yellow to green and range from 6- to 15-mm long. The immatures, called nymphs, live in flowing streams and are predators of small aquatic insects, such as midge larvae. There are currently 28 species in this genus that can be found in the contiguous United States.
