Part-time positions in Helena, Bozeman, and Great Falls with the MSU Center for Mental Health Research and Recovery.

YOUTH AWARE OF MENTAL HEALTH

The Center for Mental Health Research and Recovery is looking for individuals to join the CMHRR as Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) Assistants. YAM Assistants will help YAM Facilitators deliver the most promising youth mental health resiliency and suicide prevention program as part of a study in Montana.

YAM is a program for adolescents that promotes mental health knowledge and the development of problem-solving skills/emotional awareness through a combination of interactive learning methods. YAM uses a hands-on approach to address mental health issues such as stress, crisis, depression, and suicide. The program consists of five, 1-hour sessions that include three role-play sessions, lectures, and guided discussions. In the non-judgmental atmosphere provided by the intervention, adolescents’ knowledge and skills related to mental health are boosted

YAM will be delivered to middle and/or high school classes in multiple Montana communities. CMHRR is currently hiring for the following locations:
• Helena  (P/T F and Assistants)
• Bozeman (P/T Assistants)
• Great Falls (P/T Assistants)

Assistant Position:

The Center for Mental Health Research and Recovery at MSU is looking for college students interested in youth mental health to participate in the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) program in Bozeman, Great Falls and Helena middle and/or high schools this coming 2018-2019 school year. Students would assist program facilitators in providing a youth resiliency and suicide prevention program in Montana High Schools. Assistants will help teens learn:

  • basic information about mental health
  • coping skills and emotional intelligence
  • problem-solving and positive peer-relations

This opportunity is especially suited for people hoping to gain experience in human service fields, including psychology, sociology, and education, among others.

Part-time-flexible scheduling. Pay is $15.50/hour. There is also potential to get internship credit for this position.
