Logic models are:

  •  A tool for thinking through what you want to do and why, and how the activities will lead to the desired outcomes.
  • A framework for describing the relationships between investments, activities and results.

Elements of most Logic Models

Logic models can:

  • Nest, one within another
  • Assist project evaluation.

Strategies for evaluating your logic model

  • Starting at inputs, ask why at each succeeding level
  • Starting at outcomes, ask how for each preceding step
  • Are resources realistic? Assumptions valid? Are key stakeholders accommodated?
  • Does your model display a cultural bias for positive causality without grounding evidence?
